    Barbagallo racing taxis finished

Despite assurances that Perth will get its V8 Supertaxi round this year,it has been dropped.
Fair enough as the track presently isnt up to standard, but they were with some government backing looking at upgrading the track to suit.
Hopefully next year we get a Perth street race instead, that would be worth going to see.

    V8 racing gone from WA.

Wouldn't worry too much Andy, you can bet eventually the long suffering taxpayer will cough up the funds needed so some minority sport lover can get his fix.
Same with the footy stadium, after much moaning and groaning about lack of funds it'll get done and the WAFL executives can continue their high living thanks to the taxpayer again!
Why the hell can't they use their own many millions if it's that important to them? Certainly cut the pay of their "star" players if it's worth that much too them.
If these stadiums or race tracks were in constant use I wouldn't mind so much but they're very limited in who can use them or what can be done in them apart from their main purpose.

The Land Rover Owners Club should have a hissy fit that the taxpayer dollar isn't providing world class facilities for enjoying Land Rovers...

I'm a car lover - which is why I don't care about V8 SC... its just a bunch of fiberglass frame buggies. Booooooooooooring...

You will find Barbagallo is fully booked every weekend.
Alot of motorsport goes on there.
SAD that WA loses yet another event.

I bought my first 4wd to tow a race car. It would be sad to see yet another street circuit be built, as these do only cater to the elite. I think its about time the mining companys put forward some cash.

Needs the upgrade and not suprised it has been dropped. WA has pretty much been warned for years they need to bring it up to standard.
What is the use of having a track that spectators can only access less than a third for viewing.
Yes the government will have to cough up some $, but AVESCO also put a lot of money into the sport. No diferent to any other sport and much more money is spent on the AIS, Olympic bids, Olympic atheletes, Football, Cricket, Soccer etc etc.
The V8 Supercars is undergoing unprecedented patronage so is a worthy recepient of facilities upgrades. This sport has been ignored (motor racing overall) for too many years. The upgrades will not just affect V8 Supercars but all forms of motor racing in WA, track days, test days, driver training etc.
In principle I agree sport should be privatelly funded, but if that is the case it has to be all sport, not just selected sport.

    V8 Racing

If that's true that the raceway is used every weekend for various types of racing/driving then it may well be worth some public funding. It's already out of town and the basics are there so a decent upgrade could turn it into a worthwhile investment.

What I object to is the fat backsides of the AFL etc. virtually demanding 600 - 700 million dollars for a stadium for their use alone!
Now that's a total waste of money and if anything is to be built it must be multi purpose and preferably on some industrial type site like Kwinana where there is rail/bus access plus heaps of room for parking.
The Gov. taskforce come up with redevelopement of the Subiaco ground which is prime real estate and any fixture there causes horrendous problems and plenty of revenue in parking fines for Subi council!
Build it out of town with minimal public funding and maximum from the users, that way it may become an asset for all not just part of an empire for the head honchos of the WAFL or AFL.
