Just a quick point, the most recent EBA negotiated at work (with union signoff I might add) includes a clause for employees individually to approach the management types and negotiate away some parts of the deal for more money, and vica versa if you want something additional you can negotiate a drop in pay. Also if you hold some sort of special skill you can be remunerated for it (if it doesn't exist in the agreement in the first place that is).
Seems to me the fairest way, as the agreement (albeit a bit bare boned) has set the base, and you can negotiate for other stuff if you want, bearing in mind you would have to be above average to get more than the deal, unless you happen to be someones brother or mate:wasntme:
I guess it's like the the state or federal award versus EBA/AWA thing, just on a much smaller scale.
