I know but was the destination for the vehicle.
By the way was a Toyo with 9 people again.
Just wonder if was a private or a rental 4WD.

    Riverheads road???

I'll bet YOUR favourite camera it was backpackers

The council has only just reworked the road,,

dead straight until the last 500 meters,,
    then TWO 90deg 40KPH corners,,,

mind you,, the speed limit leading into the corner is a whopping 60kph,,,

.......and you know now what the "idiots that we know" are going to say:
"4WD are not safe" "remove them from our roads" and so on

A LANDCRUISER troop carrier has rolled this afternoon en route to Fraser Island.
The four-wheel-drive crashed about 12.10pm on River Heads Road, River Heads, near Hervey Bay.

It is understood the vehicle was carrying 9 people, and 6 needed to be treated by paramedics.

The group was believed to be heading to Fraser Island.

Three tourists were killed last year when their troop carriers rolled on Fraser Island.

Actually I was just up there on fraser, got back last week.

    The backpacker troopies were insane!

They can be seen in the background with the yellow tarp and all their gear as the cabin is full of bodies. Just couldn't believe how top loaded they were.

Our car was the hired landcruiser. Missed the disco.... but couldn't spare the time to drive up from Melb.

First trip to fraser and was awesome!

We had heaps of trouble finding a company that would insure us for single vehicle accidents. All the local companies exlude it, we hired out of brisbane.

"He said all nine involved in the single-vehicle accident were transported to Hervey Bay Hospital."

Hope no one was hurt to badly.

The biggest threat to Tourists on Fraser Island (read 4WD's) is not all the crashes, but the Dingo. Seen a recent Doco on the Australian dingo and it seems the only pure bred Dingo's left in Australia are the one's on Fraser Island, the Authorities have been culling whole families of Dingo's every time there is an attack on a Human. Seems people cannot read the signs about NOT feeding the Dingo's, because most attacks have occurred when/after feeding them. They reckon that if they have to cull more Dingo's then they will go extinct, because there won't be enough left for a viable population. So they are considering whether they should stop interaction between Dingo's and Humans, by removing Humans from the equation, scary stuff, Regards Frank.

Coming back from Fraser the other weekend, there was a bunch of 7 dingoes on the beach, must say that I wouldn't have wanted to be solo on the beach with them around.
