Simo mate...that is how I feel every time I get in my disco...given the disaster(s) I have had with it. I watch the dash lights...constantly look at the gauges...But, I make the point again...I have put too much money into mine to ever think I may recover it...and damned if I am going to allow someone else to benefit from my misery and money...At the moment, the truck is great...spending a few more thousand on it over the next fortnight or so with some modifications...I know I will never get that back if the time ever came to sell. But it won't. I'm keeping it...my daughter will drive it. My son will drive it. I will hang onto it until it is completely dead. Or I am...then the vultures can pick over the carcass !!!Quote:

Hey Simone, your obviously not in a good position money wise and having owned a few landrovers now I have come to one conclusion (some may argue with me here but speaking from life experience) more often than not they cost more to maintain than a Jap 4wd and a hell of alot more than a Jap 2wd.
So with your money issues I would sell it and buy a car, cut your losses because it's not going to get better. A landrover is good to own but you don't have to have one to get around day to day get your life back together and worry about nice to have things later on.

I spent quite a lot more than $7k on my Defender in the first three years of owning it, and wanted to drive it off a cliff more than once. Since then the maintenance costs have been negligible and it's running perfectly. Averaging the costs out over the last five years, it works out at a bit more than running other cars, but not significantly.
Mate, again lots of good advice. I wont vote if to sell or not, BUT the only thing I can say, and this advice was given to me, is that NEVER make a decision when there a lots of emotions and conflicting problems. In other words, take an extra week, think about it some more, as suggested, make a list of the problems your facing and then start with a logical (not emotional) approach, tciking stuff off that is not needed.
If the LR is ticked, then sell it mate. Decisions you make whilst cheesed off will only compound the problems.

PS: This ticking sound you say, my father (Chucaro) had this problem and JC diagnosed the problem. It was the pump, not the block or internals.
At the moment there are 4 posts determining the outcome in the poll. What happens if the results are 50/50? Will you procrastinate, scissors paper rock? Flip a coin or make a decision yourself.
I can see a future thread titles, you bastards told me to keep this hunk of junk or why did I sell my beloved disco, it's all your fault.
Personally I do not want to be a party to either scenario but I will offer some advise. If you take it or not it is entirely up to you.
