Thanks Ranga, I've ordered one and I'll be interested in your DIY instructions.
regards
I'd like to put my name down for one as well and the "How To" :p
the system hes offering up is good and will work with almost ANY gps unit that runs windows ce core 4.2 or better.
its a fairly easy process and basically converts your GPS to a windows CE palmtop which you can then use to run whatever you like on.
This includes Oziexplorer CE and the latest version of this has the ability to do a "breadcrumb" track (as do many other similar aftermarket mapping programs)
you can get the maps for free from Maps of Australia - Geoscience Australia
Dave is correct - many raod only GPS units can be modified, so if you already have one, do some research and you may be able to modify it to run Ozi, before you run out and buy another unit!
I'll order some more units soon, but beware - shipping is free, but usually slooooow. Usually takes at least 2 weeks for them to arrive. I usually always have a few units on hand here, but at the moment don't have any (I've even lent my own unit to my uncle!). I'll let you know when more arrive.
Naturally, it will work out that little bit cheaper if you can do it yourself, as you won't have to pay for shipping from me to you.
Jock - Ozi does indeed let you save and load tracks, and routes and waypoints. Actually, if anyone in SE QLD has seen the "Dirty Weekends" 4WD book, the waypoints in it are actually downloadable from the website, and work great in Aussie!
I'll try and provide a how to in the next few days - don't worry, they'll definitely arrive before your GPS does :p
Count me in please!!!!
possibly interested:)
Ranga,
if ok with you I'd like to get one of these units as well thank you.
Cheers,
Terry
I'll take one too!
If you post instructions, I'm happy to modify it myself.
Yep, can you please put us down for 2 units:cool:
