:mad:I had the same problem, ordered on the 16/10/09,still have not recieved the GPS to-day 03/11/09,so got in touch with paypal to get a refund......could not get in touch with anyone at dealextreme,to tell me what was going on with the delivery..bloody hopless company to deal with, never again will I deal with them
i guess us aulro members have cleaned them out of stock.......thankfully mine was straight forward, bit over two weeks for delivery....i can sell you mine for.............$200
Mine was even quicker than that. I can understand them being out of stock of an item, but they really do need to understand how upset potential customers get when their emails go unanswered.
I think mine is now worth over $300. After all, not only is it in short supply, but mine has been modified and has Garmin XT and Oziexplorer running and is loaded with maps to cover all the interesting tracks between Tuross Head and Deua National Park. :D
And the photo of my Defender in the wallpaper and the splash screen makes it worth even more. Well it does to me anyway. :p
okay having trouble.loaded new firmware, then downloaded the new menu.loaded it onto sd card, rebooted gps, pointed nav path to sd\gpsmenu\menu.exe,Then reset gps through the hole next to sd card, pressed on gps icon, new desktop opened, very nice, question, does this screen need the sd card to run mine won't run without sd card inserted.
The new colourful menus; the games; the navigation programs you might install, like Oziexplorer; any maps you add and so on are all on the SD card, so they won't run unless the card is inserted.
I assume the "screen" you were asking about is the one with the "Programs, Office, Games, Tools, TaskMgr" buttons at the top, like in post #213 in this thread.
If so, the answer is, "Yes. it needs the card."
Lewy,
The whole of the 'GPS' menu is on the SD card thats why you point the nav path there. This menu will only work while the SD card is in.
You could move the menu to the unit (assuming there is enough memory) and change the nav path, but you will need the ozi maps on the card so it will always be in anyway.
The native menu upgrade that resides in the Resident_Flash2 directory doesnt require the SD card to be in as its loaded onto unit itself.
Clear as mud im sure...
Shane
ok got that, how do i point the ozi explorer icon at the ozi.exe on the sd card.It works when i point to it in the old settings menu.
Lewy,
You edit the gps.ini file in the gps menu directory to point at where you have stored ozi.
OR you can just use the files i put up previously...

That's a shame. I've done over 100 orders with them over the past 2 years, and my goods have always arrived. Occasionally, shipping can take some time, usually due to supplier issues. Normally if they don't have the item in stock, they tell you on the product page. Once they couldn't ship an item, and eventually refunded my money without a problem.
Not sure what's happening with the GPS units though. I have a few on order, that are taking longer than usual. Patience hopefully will prevail.
If you have a look on ebay, you'll find similar/identical devices, that will probably ship quicker. Just make sure the image of the menu screen are identical to the ones on DX, and you should be right.
