Hmmm - lost a handheld UHf the same way on the Madigan line last year, except I didn't realise it was gone until later, and I wasn't going back for it.

Is that what I can normally expect or is it just that I have only tested it near home and that navigation around Tuross Head is not very difficult?

mine only takes a few meters past the turn (even at 100) to hit the recalculating screen and redirecting takes a couple of seconds to several minutes depending on what settings and where I am.
Might not be as quick as the missus to note that you have taken the wrong turn but I'll bet it is probably quicker than her to recalculate.

No arguments, they just refunded it. My main disappointment is that there was no indication on their website that they had no stock when I ordered the 2 units in early October.

I'd order again if I know that they have the kit in stock.
I've decided to stick with it for now. I ordered (and paid for) mine on 17th October. I'll post here if anything changes.
Funny, I'm not known for my optimism.

I bought mine soon after RANGA started this thread (THANKS) and it arrived in around 10 days. Maybe AULROians and their associates have bought out the available stock of the "proven" model ? Possibly technology has moved on and a new model has superceeded the one that started this thread. Has anyone found an alternative unit that does all that is required on and off road for around the $120 mark?

You could use any of the 480 x 272 pixel units on the DX website. They all come from the YF GPS factory, run Win CE 4.2 or higher. There are other apps menus out there, MioPocket is an absolute masterpiece of freeware that works on the DX (YF) units with minor tweaks. I ordered one of these in late October. Anyone had contact with deal extreme and been given an estimate on delivery time? The tracking function doesn't tell me much.

    A couple of things.

Thought I'd let you know that another GPS arrived on Tuesday (24/11) - I ordered this on 23/10/2009, so took about a month. Not the speediest delivery, but it did arrive. I've ordered others around this date, but haven't received them yet. Hopefully they'll come soon.

Also, lack of time has meant no DVDs sent out in ages. Also, it's a PITA trying to go back through PMs to see who wants one, so I've set up this google doc http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...rYVZ6OGc&hl=en for those who want to request one.

If someone can test it for me, (and it works!) you'll get your name on the list and hopefully get a DVD within the next fortnight.

Also, please ensure you put the addressee in the address field, just in case Auspost needs it.

    Fingers crossed...
