Hello All,
I went price hunting for a Holden HQ Red Motor 202 starter motor - Bosch brand like the one that came on one of my Series III LWB - Rebus. The part number is BXH137. I combined internet searches with telephone calls to local Auto Electricians and three chain auto parts stores here in Bundaberg. None of the locals had one in stock. Prices ranged from $177.94 delivered to my door to $270 including me picking it up from the local place when it arrives.
So $92.06 price variation for the same part. What was the Captain And Tennille song ... You better "Shop Around" .
Hopefully with the new starter motor and the Holley fuel pressure regulator I will be able to get Rebus back up and purring in the next couple of weeks. I just received an email saying the pressure regulator is "on its way"
Kind Regards
Lionel
Lionel, pick up a second hand Bosch one for few bucks and reco it yourself.
They are simple to work on and virtually bullet proof once they are in good working order.
If you want to go new there is also the option of fitting a reduction starter like on the later blue and black engines. They are smaller in physical size to allow for the larger exhaust manifold/header, but still bolt up. They are available brand new (aftermarket brand) for a reasonable price.
I just checked ebay, "reduction starter motor for Holden straight six"
New $79 plus $20 freight. You may even find them cheaper.
Cheers, Mick.

G'day Mick,
Thanks for the information. Just a tad too late as I had already order the cheaper of the range of prices for the Bosch BXH137 which had the same code that the one fitted to my Land Rover had written on it. There was an aftermarket one here in Bundaberg for $120. I figured I would pay $50 more and get the real thing. The way things are today the aftermarket and the "genuine" probably come from the same factory.
I am going to buy the replacement parts and have a go at rejuvenating the old starter motor for a spare. At the moment I just want to get the thing started and moving under its own locomotion for the first time in months.
Kind Regards
Lionel
