The Daily 4x4 is absolutely brilliant , in standard form is magnitudes more capable than a modified Defender in any off road situation , plus fast and economical off road ( brakes and reliability withstanding) is the only reason some owners are putting up with them , you do need deep pockets though.

I notice that Iveco are doing more of the 4wd/camping shows so at least trying to sell their product, so does anyone know if the latest model is better ie have they addressed the apparent shortfalls of earlier ones? Does anyone know if the Earthcruiser converted ones with camper bodies also have issues as I would have thought they would not choose them if they become problematic to customers. We all know some pumas have major issues-( others none at all)-this forum is proof but we also put up with them so is the Iveco worse? Alan

This is such a shame. I am tired of driving 20+++ year old trucks, like the Oka and the Perentie 6x6, but it seems that buying new is going to be worse than sticking to my worn out old bangers. I can't fault the Oka for perfomance in any aspect - but it is 25 years old and has done over a million k's. Doesn't matter how much you change or refresh, there is always something not thought of waiting for the next desert crossing to fail.
So, Iveco, if you are monitoring this please note:- Fix your reliability issues and I will buy one immediately!!
I talked to an Iveco sales rep at last years Perth 4x4 show (not yesterday's show) and he was very defensive about the shortfalls. Having seen the AULRO pages discussing these issues, I mentioned them on behalf of a friend who was thinking about buying one. He was adamant the proportioning valve was ok and people just didn't set it up right when they put their rigs together, ie user fault, not the manufacturer. He also said the new brakes were much better, but wasn't much help with all the other issues I mentioned. Buyer beware I guess. Like many vehicles, some stupidly thought out crap can often spoil a wonderful design.
Ive driven the new one, and would love to speak to someone who has used them for work, rather than a recreational purpose. The issues with the first series have turned me off buying one, Id rather go with a bullet proof Isuzu, yes more uncomfortable, but at least they are more user friendly and practical in the bush. The dealer couldn't even find or advise me of where the battery was in the Iveco.. At $120k, I am expecting a 15+yr working life, with minimal major component issues, I don't think these Ivecos are up to that stage yet but would love to see some government agencies feedback on them..are there any?
