Thread: Extended Warranty? Disco 3 TDV6 SE

Firstly just wanted to say hi to all, this is my first post and was very excited when i found this forum.

I have owned a freelander (2005 TD4) for the 5 years and have just moved up to a Discovery 3 2007 TDV6 SE and am overall VERY happy with it.
The car was brought form Alto land Rover in Artarmon (same place i brught my Freelander), and does not have a great service history.

The Warrantee runs out in July of this year and have been told it is around $3000 to extended it further.
Just wanted to ask some people in the know how for some advice.

Here are some stats on the Car.
76000km mostly drive in outback queensland on dusty roads
Service at 36000km - service A by dealer
Service at 60000km - service A by dealer just before i brought it.
recall P017 and P008 done Jan 2010.

Having said all of this the cars runs very well and has no problems.

Any comments would be very much appreciated.

There's two recent thread on extend warranties, pros, cons, prices. Do a search of the D3/D4 forum.

I myself have just taken out the Allianz warranty like many others.

Sorry don't know a lot about D3's maybe if you ask the questions in the Discovery section you may get quicker answers

I can tell you this - there are 2 extended policies offered by LR dealers - some will offer an Allianz policy, others a National Warranty Company Policy.

The price for a D3 is about the 3 grand mark for both as I understand it.

What you might not know....

1) You can buy either policy from any dealer in Australia - they do vary in price.

2) There are differences between the 2 policies - IMO, one is far superior to the other.

A search of this site (extended warranty) should provide further info.

The call as to if you get the extended warranty is one of those things - peace of mind, and great if issues arise. I bought extended warranty for my 07 Fender.

I don't know much about the recall details but I have asked the same questions as you as I am looking at a slightly older D3 TDV6 ('05 model).

I got hold of a couple of names from this forum and can highly recommend Megan Roulston at Platinum Direct Finance. She has a couple of different Allianz warranties (which the forum have I think generally accepted to be the one to buy) which she can sell for significantly cheaper rates than the dealers.

She has been fantastic to deal with and I am glad I took the time to go through the forums.

The other name was Luke Teys at Southern Cross Auto's in Toowoomba I think. He was not able to help me as my vehicle was out of warranty but apparently he can do similar deals to Meaghan.

There you go mate, I have saved you a bit of searching. There are probably other people out there who will be able to do something similar again, but those two people were the most recommended to me.

I have a 2007 TDV6 SE as well and I recently bought the extended warranty from Meaghan Roulston and she was a delight to deal with.........my vehicle runs very well and I haven't had any problems so far but having the extended warranty gives me great peace of mind. It's well worth the money in my opinion.
