D3 Auto Transmission problem

My 2008 D3 also does this, i've found that a compination of change of driving habit and the occasional use of sport mode seems to fix it. It does seem to be an ssue when the engine is off boost and sudden acceleration is required. Smooth application of the accelerator seems to work better than flooring it which simply causes a delay as the transmission shifts down and throttle response is reduced until it has found the lower gear. Sport mode seems to aleviate the situation by keeping revs higher as you are coasting so the turbo lag is less as the turbo spools up.

Never been more than an annoyance to me though and I'm not sure that my example is as bad as some have reported.

I can't thank you guys enough for your frank replies.They say a problem shared is a problem halved :D.I can tell you that if this iritation is the only nigle that my pride and joy presents ( which basicly is the case) then I can cruise the miles more a happy man.You are on the money with a slight change of throtle use it dose ease things a little and yes using the sport mode practicly removes it all together.The main thing is though that it would appear that it is not a major mechanical problem that is likley to bite my bum down the trak.Its Sat AM and my mates are calling, Im off for a days fishing out of Terrigal, Central coast,Snapper and trag are abound wish me luck.Thanks again and have a good one.:cool: Rostbiff.

Hi ALL

Has any body noticed a small plume of smoke out the exhaust at ths time of indicision? I have thourght of running a injector cleaner through it, any thourghts? OR is this something that a sw up date would posibly fix as well as the hesitation ?

Our D3 V8 did exactly the same thing but a software upgrade from a main LR dealer fixed the problem. Although we had to pay for it:mad: $170 from memory. Now the tranny is as smooth as silk.

Hi All.Had the 40,000 service for the D3 yesterday at Hunter Land Rover.Bennetts Green.Beter for us living on Central Coast.Trivett Parramatta did the first 3. Hunter were great to deal with and i felt the lads were all over these Disco's.Anyway, I ran the aformentioned Probs with the auto transmision by them prior to leaving it with them.It would appear the 2 patches( included in service) they loaded has removed the jolt.I am now a happy man,drives just like new one.Can't imagine why Trivett couldnt do that last year.Maybe the patches are newbies.Thanks again for all input.Best Regrds Andrew.:D

Had the patch applied to mine last month and it made an appreciable difference.

Hi Whited3, I was wondering if there is way of being able to tell if the patch has been installed? I have a MSV faultmate extreme to read settings etc I just wouldn't know what to look for...
