I love reading stories like this. They just go to reinforce my decision to spend my hard-earned readies on a D4.
Cheers everyone

Great story - be interested to hear how you go on Fraser, I'm heading to Straddie with the family in a couple of weeks.
Interestingly enough Guss, when I was at BCF buying some Maxrax, the young salesman told me that he and his father go to Fraser all the time, in their 100 & 200 series cruisers.
He stated that for some reason the majority of vehicles he's seen bogged are Prados......god I hope so, as that will be halarious.....![]()
That maybe as much about the kind of people who buy Prado's as about the vehicle itself, lots and lots of Prado's get bought for doing the school run and then the owners think well since I have a 4x4 lets do a Fraser trip without doing any research, training or preparation. Not saying that doesnt happen with other makes as well, but Prado's just beat them all for sheer numbers.
I'm certain you're right.....but god I wanted to see my smart arse mate get bogged....
Unfortunately it had been raining heaps so even the super deep sand was easy. Did notice his Prado doing a bit of 'grading' work as we went through deeply rutted tracks though. Not sure what the clearance is on a 2008 GXL Diesel Prado is, but it looked less than the D4, plus the straight axle set up in the rear wouldn't help either I imagine.
Cheers.
