D3 coil spring and shocks from Dobinsons - experience?

G'day all, I have just bought a coil sprung D3 and plan a mild suspension upgrade ASAP.

I want to give the suspension a birthday (fairly high km) and came across this link regarding the shock and coils from Dobinsons in QLD.

Any first hand experience of these out there?

Hi SuperMono. I have a coil sprung D3, with a set of King Coil springs and 2' lift. I purchased the car like this and think it still has the standard shocks. All seems to work nicely and the extra height looks great. Ride is spot on and have been able to fit larger tyres. Would like to fit upgraded shocks, as I think these are getting to the end of their life. Would be interested to hear how you go. Good luck

    Cheers

Picked up the D3 yesterday so will let everything settle in then post some further feedback in the near future.

Ride height is certainly improved from an off-road point of view, I'll get around to some clearance measurements on a flat, dry and level surface. Would appear to be a lift of in the order of 40-50mm.
Ride is firmer than the standard (worn out) set but not bone shattering.

Does appear as the front wheels have ended up with a small amount of positive camber, drives fine and a wheel alignment has been done but don't know what if any camber adjustment was made.

Q: Does the D3 have camber adjustment?

Hi, not sure about camber adjustment, I would guess it has.

    D3 Coils and Dobinsons

Hello there. I had a set of Dobinsons springs and coils fitted a few months ago and did a NQ trip and was so pleased with the ride and lift. We have an ARB front bar and Kaymar rear with rooftop tent. Just the wife and I and fridge and camping gear. Last year we did Lake Eyre (Strezlecki and Birdsville) from QLD with an old set of Pedders 40mm lift springs and 100,000 km lod shockies. Well if you look at your rear exhast pipes you will know that they copped a hidding. this year with 70mm lift and new gas shocks we did not drag once. Bought them from 4x4 online and had them fitted in Toowoomba by our local 4WD suspention guys. Make sure you get a 4 wheel alignment and not from Land rover as their's was out and the tyres will scrub out. I run Cooper ATRs and am very happy with there wear and grip on rocks and bitumen. Let me know how you go.

    2005.
Going fine on the new suspension, a bit firmer on the road so you notice the firmer spring rate. Haven't tried much off-road yet as it has been too wet for the road tyres currently fitted. Have tyres on order for end-November (when it should be dry anyway!).
