Have you checked how far the speedo is out via GPS as of yet, I would take it with that size it would be very close to actual or 1-2k's out.

In summary:

• Rims are Performance Wheels BB6's in charcoal, 17x8, +42 offset, I purchased 5 rims from Triumph Rover Spares in Adelaide at $245 each + $120 freight delivered to my door. Total cost $1345.
• Tyres are Maxxis Bighorn 255/65x17's, 114Q 8 ply (2 ply sidewalls), 15.9mm tread depth. $235ea x5 = $1175 fitted and balanced. I didn't need a wheel alignment. Note that these tyres have the same outside diameter dimensions of the factory 255/60x18's.

Both tyres & rims do not rub anywhere. But I have yet to flex-up the suspension, so time will tell, but I doubt that I will have thius problem.

With the change from factory 18's to 17's on a 2.7TDV6 D4, I thought the brake package was the closest component to offer interference to the rim. This is not correct, it is the long bolt in the ball joint. But the brakes are a close second!

Re road noise: YES. The increased level of road noise (compared to the Wrangler H/T's) is noticeable from about 55km/hr increasing steadily as speed increases. And particularly from 80 to 110km/hr. I expect that this will quieten down as the sharp corners wear off the tread blocks.
Advice to all: don't think that the superior sound insulation of the D4 will keep the noise out!
But I must say that I've already started to become oblivious to the increased road noise!

Oh yeah, now I've only had these fitted today, but have already noticed that alot of people now stare at the vehicle whilst parked in the street, at traffic lights, etc.. Even got the thumbs up from a Nissan patrol driver this afternoon!

Can't wait to get offroad!

.............the more aggressive treads will normally get noiser as the tread blocks wear and become uneven.

They look "Kick Arse"....very nice.

Now I know what they look like, the BB-6's would go well on mine.

No wonder you are getting a few stares, they look great !!

Perhaps you should bring it out to Mt Walker (near Lithgow not far from singleton) on 11 September where a few from the forum are gathering for a day of fun and get it really dirty.

No I haven't. Factory sat nav no good for this, so will grab the Tomtom from my lovely wifes car (Happy 15th anniversery dear) and check tomorrow.

Opps that's not good news.
First drive again this morning and I really do notice the tyre noise. But after 15kms at 100km/hr I long longer notice the noise.
The real test will be Saturday AM when the wife gets to experience it as we drive 7.5hrs to the snow...

Thanks for the offer George. I immediately thought YES. Then checked the diary & I have a Town & Country Ball to attent that night, so unfortunately I can't make that weekend.

But please keep me in mind for future trips. I am often down your way (Mum lives at Rockdale, brother at Engadine).

I just turn the music up the better grip is more than worth it
