if you intend to keep it . It will get worse and you don't want a failure . I'm in my 8th week waiting for a front
diff on LR warranty ..........
Check the transfer case oil too ..........

I have the same issue - noticed a slight whine from my '05 D3 and put it in for a service yesterday. Was told today that I need:

1. A new rear diff (the whine)
2. New brakes all around
3. A new compressor (had been getting intermittent suspension fault warnings but had no issues re sagging or slow to raise - Bruce Lynton have assured me it's not the sensors)
4. New ball joints

$6,000 all up. Question is do I get all this done and hopefully all issues are solved (love the car....or did anyway!) or do I cut my losses and trade it in on a new car as is?

Are their any independent mechanics on the Gold Coast who can look at D3's?

Might not be relevant, but I had my (09 model) rear diff replaced under warranty @ around 6 months old. The dealer picked it up before I noticed anything & said that there had been a bad batch of diffs for the D3's. It took around 6 weeks to get one in.

I assume you've changed-out your brake bulbs ?
I'd not be too hasty to buy a new compressor if you've still
got air pressure........ I bet they won't give you a total refund
if it doesn't solve the problem .

They bring them in via Catapillar. Known issue of front diff failure on early models.

At 31 kph for a trackloader , that explains the delay in driving 'em here
Should get Tim Cope and his horse to bring me a diff from Hungary !

Haven't checked the brake bulbs - will do. Definitely not rushing into the compressor!

The front diffs are non for the paint inside flaking off and stuffing up the bearrings..

The compressor there is a new fix for them b4 replacing the pump.. there is a valve block kit for the pump that costs about 400 if i remeber.. there is a full bulletin out on it..
