I noticed a front end rattle/clunking when on rough tracks or on blue stone paved bits in melbourne. I could find nothing loose under the car either. AMV ringwood changed both font lower control arms. This not only stoped clunk, it has dramaticaly tightened up the steering. It had seemed fine before:D
Cost about $385 each arm fited which includes ball joints and bushes. My D3 is 2005 with just under 200k on the clock now. pic
Was just searching for "clunking" related threads - this one ain't an LCA or driveshaft issue (transfer case perhaps?), but oh, how'd I'd love to be paying 2010 prices for that kind of work!! :-D
