I think the cost of repair argument isn't that relevant and I would expect that all D4 owners have their car insured..
I think the main point is can you get home after you have hit something? After all isn't that reason we fit these bars?
I don't know what grade of alloy the bar makers use.... However there are some grades of alloy that are extremely tough.
The front bar is my next addition I am still deciding what type of bar to fit.
All D3/D4 owners would also have excess on their insurance and a no-claim bonus which could be lost in a single vehicle accident. Repairing minor damage to a bar might be less than the excess...Quote:

I am not however anti alloy bars completely, but I would want to know what the bar was made of. TJM don't seem to list the material they use for their bars, but a few other alloy bar manufacturers use 6061-T6.
After the corrosion issues I saw which my alloy bar caused, I would make sure all mating surfaces and fixings were liberally coated with duralac on installation.

On the subject of bull bars, recently I emailed all the usual suppliers of bull bars and none claim to do a bull bar for a D3 that includes provision for front parking sensors. Then within days, on the front cover of one of the LR/RR club mags there was a picture of a D3 sporting an ARB bar including parking sensors.
Anyone had any success? Can the sensors be fitted to the bar easily ie drill and fit at home?
