Does the OL bar have a plate to replace the plastic one on the D3/4 (which coves the recovery loop)? If so, is this loop, now permanently available (a la ARB )?
Has anyone compared the approach angle available with the ECB, OL and ARB bars fitted?

Sorry Peter - cannot answer your questions, but I can provide another pic from a different angle and this might be of use. Pic is from the same source as that posted by Craig earlier in the thread - many thanks to Peter at OL in Bunbury WA!
Did anyone ever establish what a D3/D4 OEM plastic bar & the other stuff you have to take off to fit the ARB or OL steel bar weighs?
My estimate would be that a steel bar would only weigh 5 or 6 Kg's more than aluminium if you take into account that the alloy bars retain the factory plastic bars.

The ECB bar doesn't retain any of the plastic bumper or the light-weight metal bar behind it. I easily and gently lifted the ECB bar onto its brackets although the winch cradle was already fitted. The winch cradle cannot be omitted as it ties the bar to under the chassis to prevent the bar from twisting. I'll weigh the original parts shortly.
The removed bits weigh 17kg.
Hi all, from what I can gather, the OL steel bar has a better approach angle than the ECB. How many degrees......not sure.
Weight difference is unknown as well. I suspect that the steel bar would be 10 - 15Kg heavier.
I can't see this extra weight being a major issue. It may make a difference in certain 'wear & tear' parts being replaced slightly earlier.
What about all the other 4WD's out there on the road.....Patrols, Cruisers, Padjero's etc. Why would the Disco be any more sensitive to the extra weight of the steel bar? After all, they are meant to be robust enough?
