I find the ladder very handy for a "slide" of sorts ... I attach a short piece of rope to my tent and "slide" it down the ladder - sure beats trying to hand it down to someone on the ground or throwing things down from a great height !!! - of course I also haul things up using the "slide" principle on the ladder too.
