     What vintage is your D3, was it a couple of hours for one belt or both?  It's to late for me to change mine now, when I checked the belt today it looked fine, no cracking or scuffing evident.  Agree with you about the main serpentine belt but the fuel pump belt came with the adjuster mechanism in a kit, and the adjuster has a "special" locking pin in place to make the replacement easier.  I've bought them now, if either belt breaks the price I paid will seem cheap, at least I have the right ones, the price did hurt..... I admit that.
