This is how Ive done mine , On roof to get best ground plane and I can reach it from my window to lower for car parks and low trees, mind you it will just fold back if hit.;)

I have just a Z bracket mounted there and can swap between a baby flexible antenna for normal/carpark use and a proper 6.5db for touring.Quote:
