Anyone have any experience with Mickey Thompson FC-II's??? 275/65/R18.
Tossing up these or BFG AT's 265/65/R18. (mainly because that's what I had on the D3)
I'm only going to use the wheels/ tyres for offroad trips but figure 70% of any trip is on the bitumen anyway so a pure off road tyre is probably not the go. (not sure how many bog holes I would want to plunge the D4 V8 into anyhow....it's sooo pretty) :D
As I mentioned, you'll need a fair bit of modification and shortened rods or LLAMS to run 275/65R18's

You will have to remove the rear wheel-well inner plastic liner, bend back the metal seam that runs along the front of the well, and you might have to trim back the plastic liner as well (I did on the RRS, but it has slightly less clearance than a D4). The front wheel well liner will also have to be repositioned (via wire ties) at the front of the well, unless you have a bull-bar.Quote:

Are there locking wheel nuts available for the Lard Rover rims?
I am getting some Yoko AT-S 's placed on my D4 today, and will let you know how they fare. I wanted Cooper ATR's but there was a wait of a few weeks, and we are heading up to Cooktown next week.
The rims and tyres are on the D4. Photos to follow.
The guy who fitted the tyres was very surprised at the price we paid for the rims. He said wheels of that quality he would expect to be in excess of $600 each.
Good on you, Haggis! I did a lot of searching for replacement tyres after the original Goodyears wore out on my D3. Noticed a definite degradation of performance towards the end, very 'mushy' handling and wanted something more 'grippy' as well. Found the perfect choice in Yokohama ATS 265/60R18.
Just put the first 10k km on them, mostly highway with some dirt to Wilcannia and back, and some bush tracks. Very pleased with quietness, grip and most of all the handling seems much more stable than with the old Goodyears. I can recommend them to all who don't mind paying $435 each!
I would add that the spare will probably not fit into the spare wheel recess, I am running 265/60/17 MTZ's & the spare needs to be flattened to fit into there. Something else to think about.
