Thread: Help water ingress cabin

Water draining out of the doors is OK but it shouldn't get past the door seals. I've done several days at the Land Rover Experience at Eastnor Castle with my RRS and also in their Disco's that involved dunking it much deeper than you've done and in all cases it's not come inside the car, but on opening each door water flowed out of the drain holes in the bottom.

LRE chaps told me this was normal and to stick a hosepipe on the drainholes when I got home, to just swill the muck out.

As an idea, this was taken at one of the days I did, we had water well over the rubbing strips at times with the suspension on full extension and got no water inside the car. The water runs at Eastnor are probably 200m+ in length I'd guess.

I've never had water in past the door seals.
Suggest close inspection of the seal and see that it is correctly seated on the metal retaining lip and that there is nothing interferring with the seal on the door itself.
More likely that the foot well drain grommet is not seated correctly.

What does the footwell drain grommets look like and were is it located?
Is it driver and passenger fotwell/ rear footwells.
There is a large black rubber disc about the size of a dinner plater under the drivers side carpet, is that it?

A way of drying the carpets is to leave your car idling with the AC on demist, the water will drain out of the hose under the car.

when drying out the sub carpet lining, i came across this black rubber "thing" about the size of a dinner plate. sorry for the crappy photo from the phone, but you can just see the edge of it.

Could be worth checking all the floor under the carpet.
After my first deep water crossing I had water fill up the floor.
It made a mess of the carpet and dampening.
On removal of the rear seats and carpet to dry, I found there were 7 holes in the floor about M8 size.
To test if they were the problem, I poured water in the holes from inside the vehicle and watched the water come out under the car.
I took photos and showed the LR dealer who then replaced the carpet under warranty and sealed up the holes.
They said they were jig holes that should have been filled during assembly.
There has been no problem since then and no leaks in from anywhere.
The door and tailgate seals are fantastic.

Until now, I've not had to go looking for the D4 footwell grommets before, and assume that they exist - every other car has them!
A quick look under the vehicle, and you can see the 10c sized grommet in the rear foot wells, but shielding etc interferes with looking for the front footwell grommets.
I don't know what the large black rubber disc is.
Wyperfield's post about jig holes being left open are a concern.
