I had a BAS remap on my old D3, and would have changed maps at least 20 times with out a fault, so it must reset counter.

The remaps do make them blow black smoke though

Would be due to a significant power difference...

Pete tunes his to meet emmisions at test points but puts just that 'little bit more' into his mapping to bring out the best in the engine.

Autologic and others tend to give a smaller increase.

If one wants a 'cleaner' exhaust - Pete will map to suit, but some power loss (or less power gain) will be noticed...

    Autologic?

I am looking into user experiences with "Autologic Performance tunes" for a RR Sport TDV6 2.7L......

Good / Bad or otherwise? Would love to here drivers experiences with these guys as i appreciate there are other products on the market.

    Thanks

Does BAS supply a graph of torque and pwer. It would be interesting to compare.

Just had an email back from Pete from Bell Autos in the UK.
He dosen't currently have a remap for the 3.0 that he can send over to us, however he can do a re-tune if you take your car to him.
He is going to let me know when he has one for the 3.0Lt.
Let you know when I hear something.

    Cheers, Craig

Does he have one for the 2.7?
I was wondering about comparing BAAS to other re-maps for the 2.7.

One thing I've noticed with replacement chips and add on boxes over the years has been that I have never been able to match the claims of better fuel consumption. I've had them in cars and 4wd's since the early 90's, and have bought them to try to clear up flat spots in the rev range where power/torque fall off when towing. Economy has never been a big issue for me.

I thought I had been, then bought a GPS in 1998. Now, using GPS measured distance against actual fuel put into the tank, I've found that you can not rely on the trip computer in a car - they are just not accurate. The one in my D4 is 1.2l/100km optimistic - always saying I'm using 8.8 - 9.2l/100km when a few quick calcualtions have it over 10.

The add on box usually fits after the ECU - mostly they are just a box of lies to the fuel pressure modulator on the fuel rail. They get a signal from the ECU, and using a table, change the signal to the regulator. The trip computer bases its figures on what the ECU has told it was put into the engine, not the adjusted figure.

In all cases, to get more power you need more air and more fuel. This usually means you will use either the same fuel, or a bit more.

Now, that being said, I've not used any of the ECU remaps on the D4, and am still looking at the options.

I've used both remaps and chips, and although I've never managed to see the gain in economy that's claimed, I've never seen it get worse, despite the extra power - probably because you can never use the extra all the time. In some instances I've seen a modest gain (in economy), more so with the remap than the chip.

    Cheers,

    Gordon
