I agree MLR are very good. But not all dealers work to their standards.
My MY09 TDV6SE D3 was in at MLR today for a 60,000 km service.
I was asked if there was anything I would like them to look at.
My reply was the air suspension seemed to be a little slow rising.
They rang me at lunchtime to say they were replacing the air compressor & height sensors & apologised that the car would be ready at 5.30 not 3.00 as discussed.
Picked up the car at 5.30 all work done - no problems, no arguments.
I think they installed nearly $1500.00 in parts & labour.
No charge for loan car.
BTW - Service was reasonably priced as well & they replaced a couple of globes I did not know were blown at no cost.
I think the extra odd $100.00 I pay twice a year to an OEM dealer rather than an indie is well worth it - especially as they give me a loan car because I bought my car from them.
Thankyou MLR
Regards
Chuck
I agree MLR are very good. But not all dealers work to their standards.
Good service is always worth a "pat on the back" to those that provide it ... we are all too quick in this day and age to complain and whinge about "bad service & falling standards" so it's nice to see someone giving praise for a job well done...
cheers
Similar theme for me as well regarding MLR.
Work required on my car was less than initially thought so the bank manager is happy about that and they were very good with providing a loan car when there was a misunderstanding on same day vs next day pickup. This really got me out of a hole as we were down a car and I had to ferry the kids around that night and next day. They have always been good for advice and explaining why work is necessary.
Car running beautifully btw.
That is very true . Most Dealers are ripoff merchants who couldn't
care less about warranty work that yields them no parts profit and
a non negotiable labour fee. Not to mention charging for a loaner
and the new-ripoff ; engine flush every bastard who comes through
the door ! I'm glad you've found a Dealer who gives a toss in this
car game thesedays.
My first LR service experience:
1. Dealer sent me a letter and scheduled a date
2. I arrived at the dealership only to be greeted by a valet parking service
3. Loan car was there waiting for me (again driven up to the front door where i stood waiting)
4. I requested if i could pick up the car at 3pm as i had a meeting close to home - they called me at 12.30pm to say it was ready
5. Cost of service and loan car $0.00 (they offered me free servicing for 3 years as part of my corporate purchase plan and they actually meant free!!!)
6. Car was washed and cleaned!!
What more can i say but - Thanks Southern Land Rover Cannington!

I had exactly the same experience at Purnell in Southern Sydney. The inside of the wheels were even cleaned. Cost me $65 for an air filter which is a fair price. The salesman came in from the sales area to say hello...he remembered my name even though I purchased the car from him over a year ago!
A few variations to the theme
1. Dealer sent me a letter and scheduled a date ( I booked the date when a loan car was available )
2. I arrived at the dealership only to be greeted by a valet parking service
3. Loan car was there waiting for me (again driven up to the front door where i stood waiting) ( I booked the vehicle and it cost me $45.00 for the day )
4. I requested if i could pick up the car at 3pm as i had a meeting close to home - they called me at 12.30pm to say it was ready ( no problem with the advice & timing )
5. Cost of service and loan car $45.00
6. Car was washed and cleaned!!
7. Read the riot act by the service advisor. 'Your car is heavily modified ' Cited, SWC ( single wheel carrier ) , aux fuel tank, Mitch hitch, led light bulbs in interior light fittings ( for Gods's sake ) , and Traxide dual battery system.
My incredulous comment ' that's highly modified !!' ( under my breath' you guys should get out more ' ) but I bit my tongue and avoided being drawn into an argument.
Comments were passed on the led bulbs and the Traxide dual battery system having a potentially adverse effect on the vehicle ECU, as the ECU ' controls all of the vehicle electrics'
Perhaps it is a pipe dream to have manufacturers print a disclaimer with their advertising, re take it as it is or risk voiding your warranty. At least if they did so potential owners could make a valid judgement call on how fit the base vehicle is to the intended purpose. ( theirs - not the manufacturers )

Just as a comparison to your experience Admiral, 24000km service at Hunter Landrover at Bennet's Green (Newcastle) on D4.
Didn't get a loaner, but also I didn't ask for one nor did I need it. However, they did drop me off & picked me up from Charlestown Square.
Free no cost service (corporate purchase) completed in a timely manner. Washed and cleaned.
They never batted an eyelid nor mentioned/commented on any of the modifications (ARB bar & winch, 55W HID upgrade to halogen high beam fill in lights, Traxide dual battery system including relocation of electrics in the passenger side area, roof lights, roof rack, rock sliders, aftermarket 17" rims with muddies, in-dash UHF install, etc.).
Gday...
I had a very similar experience with Southern Cross LR Toowoomba QLD.
In for 82,000km service and transmission flush/oil change/change to steel pan.
Loan car - no charge. Washed car including inside wheels and wheel archs ... looked great and drove like new.
Very helpful and knowledgeable Service Mgr and obviously team.
Would gladly go back.
(however, I travel full-time - used Bundaberg LR Dealer for 96,000km service - OK service, but not a knowledgeable mob at all)
Cheers
John
