Off road tyres for 19inch D4 rims

There's a good amount of opinion on the Cooper Zeon 19's, mostly positive, in this thread (link below). I was going to go with the Goodyear Duratrac (also discussed in this thread) but in the end decided to get 18" rims.

Note that both the Coopers and Duratracs are expensive and the Duratracs were hard to get when I was looking 6 months ago. I think it was over $500ea but may be different now.

I doubt you'd be able to get any rims through Gordon. His business has closed. There are a few 18" wheels suitable for the D4. I got the Moab Rims last year. The current list price is $550/ rim, however, I got mine for $400 each as I bought 5. Ring them and see if any deals or specials. Others may suggest other brands such as Tuffants, etc.

Around the time I bought mine there was a member of this forum who emailed/talked to Compomotive UK direct. He said it was cheaper than going through GOE. Compomotive were the ones Gordon supplied. If you're after them it may be worth looking at although I think there is a distributor in Australia now.

As per above, there are HEAPS of posts discussing this exact topic. I think one very recently...

My personal experience over almost 10 years with my D4:

• I have had a few sets of 19" Cooper Zeon LTZ's and loved them. No punctures, no issues. But quite expensive. Done Cape York, OTT, Pilbara/Karijini...
• I now have a set of Maxxis AT980's, almost everyone on this forum had given positive feedback, and they were ~$100ea cheaper! Had them for 10-15k kms, and they are going really well. Again, no punctures, issues, ride really well.
• I would use either tyre - but the Maxxis appear best value for money so far!
