In my experience based on a few cars, it catches up once the car starts to move again.
If you have been a fair way and it is an average , it may not use enough to go down to the next graduation.
Fuel economy at idle is by definition INFINITE.

Lol, 99.9 is as close to infinite as the car can show... I'd love if the remaining range dropped to 0 accordingly.
That aside, it must depend on how (and how often) its calculating the average - obviously not based on a time period, more likely some kind of 5 or 10 km rolling average? Or as someone said just overall average since resetting the trip computer.
Yeh Stuart the computer is a little odd
At a stopped idle the instantaneous fuel usage is 99.9L/100km but if you are rolling along at idle the instantaneous fuel usage is 0.0L/100km. Only when the accelerator is depressed will it move off 0.0 when moving.
That aside my average fuel usage around town is 11.8-12L/100km and about 8.5-9 on the highway
It's odd that it shows any consumption /100km when stationary. Previous VAG vehicles I've owned show litres/hour when not moving. That might be a useful readout for on the move as well if it was selectable.
