As nice as my D4 is I'd take back my 110 any day. I know if I was in my Defender on the side of the HWY, even if only making a phone call, there wouldn't be a defender driver that wouldn't stop to assist.

Yep Im hearin ya and its Lucas prince of darkness and you forgot to mention the water cooled fillaments in the brake light globes:) I think the wave is a , I feel your pain to mate , type of wave.

My wife mocks me everytime I wave and get no reply, which is about 90% of the time. I must admit now in general I just keep an eye out and wave back if the other LR driver does.

As I drive a highly modified D1, a D2a and a d3 about the same amount of time I have found that it makes little difference what model Discovery you drive. Modded D3 owners will wave when I'm in the D3, but not many of them around. D2 owners in general never wave, but do look, neither do Fender owners who seam to totally ignore Discovery drivers.

Maybe I'm being unfair to Fender owners given that most can't risk taking their hands off of the steering wheel because they handle so badly ...;)

We did a drive to Oatlands (TAS) today and when driving through Cambletown a red and white fender waved, it felt very good when we havent had a wave back for a long time ;)

Lots of waves given and received in either my d1 or d2. To and from deefer and other original shape discos. Trouble is most of us know that most newer shape discos are driven by soccer mums and dads so we don't bother. I know if I ever went a D4 I would miss getting the wave. Cheers

Ps. Maybe in 10 years time it will change. I don't think so though. Part of the deal was that LR was quite rare. Not so any more.

I drove a few hundred kms this weekend in my D1. Waved quite a few times... Didn't get any back. :(

Will try again next weekend!

Waved back to a D2 on the weekend. The driver looked rather shocked when I waved back.

Keep the wave going I say.

You may be having a problem because you're giving a Discovery wave and Defender drivers are looking for a Defender wave.

Maybe you should give a generic Land Rover wave and see how you go? :D

I had been tempted to wave to other Land Rovers but not until reading this thread was l truly inspired. And as it happened the opportunity arose today in Newcastle. D4 to D4. Low right handed wave. Instantly reciprocated. The wave lives !!!!!!!!

Got a bunch of waves from a mob of Landies (is there a more appropriate collective noun than mob?) popping out of the bush at Blackwood on the weekend.
Sadly I was only popping over to Daylesford on the blacktop...

That was surely the Wombat Weekend thread crew. Sadly I wasn't among them...
