I replaced my MTZ 265/70/17 with Cooper STT 245/70/17 because I wanted to fit the spare easily in the original spot. The MTZs came with my D3 when I bought it and now means I have six practically new tyres for sale. Four of them have 10mm of tread and two have about 12-13mm left. I believe this is not the place for advertisements, so please PM me if interested in the MTZs.

I have the 265-70-17 MTZ put on yesterday. Thanks for all the responses and advice. Noise is a little louder of course.
Found my Speedo is now on the money. I know Speedo may be adjustable by a dealer but never bothered as my VMS GPS is right on the money, speed alerts, camera locations (not that I need them honest) Saw a sticker on the back of a nice truck yesterday. If you think I am going slow now, you should see me in low range!”
Speedo was showing 100kph when real speed was 93kph. Now it looks inside a 1% error. The larger diameter slightly lower revolutions just gave a bonus I did not expect.
Will get them very dirty up high in the Victorian Alps soon and see if my winch can get rusty due to a lack of use/abuse for a change.
Saw a new Coopers AT at guests4wd. It was a 18inch and looks a lot more aggressive than the older variations and more aggressive than my 18 inch AT General Grabbers. I think it was a 3ply side wall. Pushing on the side wall of the Mickey T ATZ showed they were pretty soft. The Mickey T MTZ was much stiffer as was the new coopers.
Nice to see more options and more off road capable tires are coming out in 18 inch as well. When the 18inch GGs die on me now I will have to consider a road tire I suppose give the nice set of muddies on the 17 inch rims I havenow.

Lot of very steep slippery wet clay and rocky climbs, Deep ruts and washouts to test the D3 with my new tires.
Last my last effort in this area on GG 18" AT saw at least four sections with winch pulls needed and a lot of groundings and rock scraping under the car.
LLAMS and the extra height and grip the 265-70-17 MTZ saw the winch unsued at all. With only two second attempts needed to get up the really tough bits. 12 odd river crossings with low water giving no trouble and not one grounding or rock strike under the car.
I left a number plate, mud flap, UHF arial and about 5kgs of me behind. Backpacking over some of the mountains in two legged mode is where most of my time was spent in this fanastic location. Not one person or any other cars sighted in three days untill Mt Tamboritha rd which is a fun road but really 2wd fodder.
Fuel economy was 14.8 litres for the whole trip with 150 km plus in low range. Will try again if it snows before the gates to the National parks shut.
LLAMS rated 10/10 Tires rated 9/10 Like other reports I do get a slight rub when reversing with the wheel almost locked to the LHS.
Back at work with 18 inch rims on today :(
