Fitted & working
What a batsturd of a job it was to get the centre console out though on the RRS, the sound of cracking & creaking plastic and the pinging off of metal clips is never good![]()
My cooler arrived yesterday and was waiting when I got home last night.
I was wondering about trying to make it more efficient. To those who have fitted theirs to a D4, would there be sufficient room to stick additional insulation around the unit? Even if it were only aluminium foil tape or something a little thicker?
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
There's not a lot of spare space around the unit but some foil tape or similar could be applied. A refridgerant type cooler rather than thermoelectric would be better of course.
Thanks triff, I think an important addition would be to have an insulator of some sort in the top, even if it were only a piece of poly-styrene (suitably covered and sealed of course).

I was interested to observe that even though the fridge may not be the most efficient there is. ……It is however very effective.
I had put a thermometer probe and 4 cans of coke in it when driving about last week.
Admittedly it’s not all that hot here in Canberra at the moment, but when the car has been parked in the sun for a few hrs and the internal temp of the fridge was 16deg, but within about 10 mins of driving it was down to 4.0 deg and sat between 4 an 5.1 deg from then on.
Mine arrived yesterday...yea
Saturday job to get...hoping I don't break anything.....
Most of the thermo electric type of coolers also have heating function - does the RRS/D3 cubby box cooler also have a heat function?
