Nothing duel zone climate control can't fix... Chips on the passenger seat, passenger temp to 28, driver temp to 22!

One better, curry hook from glove box- chips hang in footwell, heat up passenger footwell!

    Ahh first world problems...

All of these units use a thermoelectric peltier plate and a heatsink and fan to cool the box, if the votage is reversed the box then gets hot and the heatsink gets cold. The battery protection cicuit however may not like the voltage reversing so it would be best done post the small circuit board.

For those interested you could build your own cool box for under $50 with a heatsink and fan off a desktop PC and a $10 peltier from the bay, getting the aluminium box (to distribute the cold) is the hard part, and why I went OEM.

The only trouble is you can't fit a stubbie in it

Why would you want to put a stubby in there when a Bundy and Coke can will fit fine .

I received my fridge the other day - the inside is a lot smaller than I was expecting and is a lot smaller than the standard cubby box. I could fit 4 750ml water bottles in the cubby box but they are too fat and tall for the fridge.

Likewise the fridge is a bit shallower than the cubby box so as mentioned taller water bottles will not fit the fridge especially with the coin holder in place.

As standard water bottles will not fit in the fridge with the coin holder in place it will not be used - however there does not seem to be any seals for the console lid to seal around the top of the fridge - for those who have the fridge installed and do not use the coin holder (which does seal the fridge) is there a sealing issue in using the fridge.

    Cheers

I installed mine on Friday and used it over the weekend.

The cans used were the small 200ml cans where I could fit 5. What i found was that the cans at the bottom of the cooler were colder than those at the top, so the coin-tray and lid are very poor insulators.

I am seriously thinking of making a small internal lid using a styrofoam sandwich with a rubber seal and use 4 regular size cans below the insulated lid. I may even adhere the lid to the base of the coin tray.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    For RRS Owners

    For RRS Owners

Am wanting to put my fridge in today. I have got the instructions from this thread and the workshop manual.

Basically - remove radio side panels, remove gear knob, remove centre console top etc etc.

Now nothing actually says how to remove the radio side panels - I know there are 6 clips but how do you get the side panels off.

One there off I assume there are screws to take the top of the console off? Again the instructions just say remove not how? I understand you just yank the gear knob off.

Specific pointers on how to get these panels off would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Garry,
As you can see in the photo i am just using this as a guide, it is all held in place by clips. Part number in case you lose one is FYC500040.
Where the silver chrome trim meets the wood paneling of the centre console, this is where it separates.
Need to grab panel & lift away & it will remove in one big "H" piece that will also include the other side & both top air vents & section in front of Nav screen.
Remove gear knob by just lifting straight up, do NOT twist. Watch ya chin
    Now the fun....
Where the wood trim along the lower centre console is, that IS part of the centre console & will lift vertically with the entire console, I just grab the edge of the wood trim towards the rear section from the opposite side of the vehicle.
It will unclip a little at a time & you will then notice how it comes apart.
I would recommend using your hands & not tools as they can damage the plastics & wood section & are not repairable.
Unless you have a bone-ing tool, plastic wedge shaped tool to insert between panels when required.

Any more questions feel free to ask,
    At home with the lurgy

    Cheers
