Tail gate release

Guys....

Knowing Land Rover nothing has changed. And if you think LR cares you're all dreaming..

Ever experienced the bending rear door in a defender? leading to the eventual cracking if the rear glass? Then the seals never coming together causing the cabin to suck in dusty air at 80kph +?

Having previously owned a 2004 Defender 110, a 2010 Freelander 2 SE & now a 2011 3.0L Disco 4 SE these quirky LR issues are getting a little long in the tooth for me.

Love the D4, hating always expecting something stupid to break & this amateur audio system, I hate it. Worth 95 grand? Maybe..

Hi Paul,
The modified tail gate release has a solid forged end on the cable. Looks like an allen?? key. There were a lot of guys with D3's on the forum that rigged up their own solutions. I remember one of them was a fix very similar. The guy used a cut down allen key and electrical connectors as fasteners. He should be working for LR. Unbelievable that such a scungy part could be fitted to such a great vehicle.

Thanks for the reply,how do i tell if mine has been modified,without pulling it apart?
LR may know from the vin i suppose.

Yes have seen the posts on fitting something a bit stronger,also the one's on having a cable somewhere in the event it fails.

Many a thread on D3UK about this as well.

Exactly,just like the EPB.................!

As for the EPD,great when working,but can cause all sorts of probs if it gets full of mud?

Umm,it is fitted to an off road vehicle.:(
