Maybe try putting a washer behind it, to test if the depth is the problem. That should narrow the odds.

Hi all,
Just a question to the owners that have the sensors fitted to the ECB bar & are not working.
Are your sensors fitted to the bar with the factory fittings ie: the rear locking mechanism & rubber o ring?
Albeit slightly different we had an ARB client that come in just after having his brand new bar fitted & his park control module was going nuts !
We checked over his vehicle to find that the wiring harness had been destroyed, caught in many places while they tried to fit the bar. We took photos & sent them along with him where he had the bar fitted & the client was told that in no way ARB could have done that!
Back to us & we had to remove the bar with ARB's permission & rectify his wiring issue to start with. Once that was done we refitted the bar & retest the issue & again faults due to some components not fitted.
We gave the customer a set of sensor holders & o rings to fit as they were not fitted & the sensor kept picking up the bar as the sensors sit flush against the front surface of the bar. The rear holder locking mech's were glued to the rear of the bar & all is well.
I agree with the member that if you pay for something (& it's not a small amount of money either) & it is not working then the installer should make it work as described.

They paid money for a feature on their original vehicle config and now it doesn't work when it was advertised by the bar manufacturer that it would. I for one would not just accept that it no longer worked.
A thought, are the sensors required to be oriented correctly? Do they have a "right side up"?
Edit: Also, are they any lower to the ground than they would be when fitted to the OEM bumper or, angled towards the ground? If so that might cause them to be picking up signals from the ground surface.
sniegy...............i know nothing of holders and O rings ....the sensors sit in a little V shaped metal holders in the ECB bar ...(and were held in place by cable ties put there by the installer )......again it looks like just a design problem where the sensors are picking up either the bar or the ground ..................thanks for your commemts of support re getting what was promised ............yes i can park with out the sensors ............but i like them in Pitt St or China Town ........I paid more for the higher spec to double as a town car ....and the retention of this functionality was promised by ECB when they took my money
ditto for mine, except there is no cable tie; they just kind of hang a slot in a small bracket at right angle off the bar....very loose and wobbly.... no o-rings or any form of fixing. No wonder they kept giving false detections. definitely design issue for ECB.
This is a pic (of sorts ...squeezy iphone shot...) of the sensor in the bar; the bracket is in bottom left. very poor form.
trevorj ...i swapped around the middle two sensors in my bar .....(and given the way they fit into the holders this means i also turned them upsidedown ..or rightside up ...that is if there is an upside and a down side i dont know ....) .......anyway they worked perfecty for 3 days ....then after a cold wet night they went back to a constant beeping agin .....i left then alone and when they dried out or the weather dried out they resumed working again ....and worked perfectly for 2 days ....untill it rained again .................so could the issue be water in the connections .....and how could i find out where the water is getting in and causing the problem and fix it .....any ideas ......anyone ......?????.......................it looks like in the right conditions they will work ....but appears rain and wet set them off ........this would not be an issue in the OEM bumper as they are well set in their own permanent holders and well sheilded from the elements ......................this looks like a poor design in the bar from ECB
thomas- mine were much worse in the rain, which I put down to (wild guess) drops of water sitting in the recess in front of the sensors. Of course, only happens rarely here - perth -lol
still, not happy camper on this front either. so, wet or dry, had to switch them off, permanently.
Thomas/Trevor, I'm not sure this would be of any help - you could have a look at the instructions ARB provide for mounting their bar. They have photos and instructions on how the sensors are mounted into their bar. It might provide some insight into how you can mod yours to sort out the issue.
The sensor install starts at step 30. The part number list is at the beginning for grommets etc.

Discostewpot ....thank you for this suggestion ........im sure i'll eventually get a fix on this (no thanks to ECB ...they prefer to ignore my problem at the moment )
There are no silicon sleves??in the ECB bar ....i have the original landrover sensors just sitting in the holes provided in the ECB bar .....the original LR sensors have little rubber ring things around the front of them (very thin little washer type things things that fits on the front of the sensors and then fit into the holes ...............did your OL bar come with silicon selves ...perhaps i could look at getting these where would i get them
BTW ...i just spent 3 days in Barrington Tops and went over some pretty ratteley trails and some very muddy tracks .....my sensors worked perfectly for the 3 day ....not a problem ...then on way back to Sydney yesterday ...lots on rain on the freeways ...and .....beeeep off they go again
also SBD4 thanks for the info on the fitting of the ARB bar to D4 ...i have not been able to open this yet ....even visited the ARB site and found the same file but cannot open it there either ...says some thing about run time ???...i will get my daughter to show me what im doing wrong
Ok thanks all ...........seems like there is a fix some where out there and have to say love those sensors even out in the bush ...wonderful at picking up stumps hidden in the undergrowth !!!
