    D3 v8 rim size

    Hi guys,

I have a D3 v8, currently with 19" wheels. Can I fit a set of d3 18" rims and wheels on over the brakes? I have heard that only 19" wheels will fit on the V8 due to the calipers.

    Many thanks
    Ben.

    Hi Ben,
I have a D4 3.0 with the larger brakes which only fit the 19" rims, however I have recently fitted 18" rims from Gordon (GEO).
If you wanted to check them out, PM me with your number, as I am in Melbourne today.

    Cheers, Craig

    Hi Craig,

Thanks for the offer, apologies I didn't get back to you.

Only just got home and read the thread.

Actuall I have family in Mount Martha, perhaps we can catch up sometime and I can check out your D4!

    Cheers
    Ben.

As Pete said, the 18" Disco rimz will fit over the front brakes. I have the same problem with my V8 RRS so have always run with the 19's. I believe the 18" alloy from the L322 Range Rover also fits, I've seen a couple of G4 cars with them over the last few years, purely because they were cheap as chips in the UK for people to get hold of for mud tyres.

I had a very good look at a set of the 18" Compomotives last week, was very difficult not to try and snaffle them out of Tyrepower in Camberwell, they looked pretty nice sat alongside my car

    Question Alloy 18s for V8

    Reviving this!
I've got a 2005 D3 HSE V8 and would love to get some 18s so that I can put some more practical tyres on it.

Can anyone confirm that these WILL NOT fit ?

I know of the Tuffant wheels but would prefer Alloys so I'm not copping the extra weight.
Are Compomotives the only alloy 18" option that will fit the D3 V8?

    Thanks!

All LR 18" D3/D4/RRS rims will fit the V8 D3. The 3.0 D4's front brakes are bigger than the D3 V8 brakes which use the same calipers as 2.7 D3/D4 but with brackets to mount them further out for a slightly larger disc than the 2.7 disc.

The rims in the linked advert appear to be standard D3 18" rims.

Fantastic thanks for confirming that Graeme, great news!
The Compomotives look like a great wheel but they are bloody pricey.
