Actually I suspect they were sent a Warn Winch and spec sheet and told to make one of those.

Hey Guys, I just fitted a tigerz11 12000lb winch and havn't used it in anger yet but I have workmate that used his up the cape and simmo and performed faultlessly, maybe like anything else you can get the odd failure, havn't heard too many bad comments about them and 2 year warranty must mean the company is confident in them, will be interesting how it stands up in my veh, i guess time will tell, the winch comparo that 4WD action did earlier this year didn't exactly show the high price units in the best of lights either, warn didn't fare too well at all except 1, the cheaper winches were just as good and in some circumstances did better, i'm not trying to justify my purchase but tigerz11 winch on test rated very well, have a read on 4wd action forum and read how many drivers have an aldi winch and swear by them which is another cheapy, I don't think a high price makes a winch always superiour, warn is made in china to there specs, tigersz is made in china to there specs, not much diff i dont think, just my opinion but i cant justify spending and extra $700 for a brand name
cheers
