    trailer wiring - reverse light

Hi all..just bought a new camper trailer..well new to me.

It has LED lights so I know what to do there..but it also has a reversing light.

I was hoping that someone may be able to tell me what colour wires I have to cut and rejoin in the trailer wiring loom in the rear of the car to get the reversing light working?

I figure i have to swap pin 2 on 12n connector with pin 1 on the 12s connector.

    thanks in advance

    Welcome,

Pin 2 on the black plug is the fog light switch, so in reality you could just turn on the fog light switch & it will work.
    Otherwise as you said.

    Cheers

That's what I do.. Turn on the fog lights when I want the reversing light. It's not often I do, so it's just easier than cutting and joining wires.

You are right jimc, pin 1 on the white connector is the reverse circuit. On the vehicle LR use a yellow/brown wire from the connector behind the left side ( tow bar) storage compartment to the external plugs. In AU we tend to use pin 2 on our 7 and 12 pin trailer connectors for reverse and generally don't have rear fog lights on our trailers but there is provision for it on the 12 pin plugs, pin 11.
You could wire the LR black plug to AU convention by changing the wiring in the short loom that runs from the left storage compartment to connectors behind the bumper below the tail light assembly. You can access it by removing the left taillight where you will find a number of connectors (depending if you have reversing sensors). The connectors slide off their holders and unplug by pressing in the tab. There is a double skin so just pop out the inner and outer grommets then you can take the loom out and make the alterations.
At least this way the vehicle and trailer can match up with any other vehicle / trailer.
I assume you do not have electric brakes for the trailer as LR use pin 5 for the right hand side tail lights.
