D4 wouldn’t recognise the trailer locking the electric brakes

It's all relatively easy to do but it's best to done in the section of the loom in the left rear storage compartment. The connectors are easily seen, one for the trailer (black plug) and one for power (white plug). The back of the LR trailer connectors (12N & 12S) are sealed with waterproofing compound so best to leave those as they are.

I already have the 7 pin flat plug, no point in setting the round plug up now, although I wish LR had set it up using the large round plug that is already there, I would have just changed the the plug on the trailer.

LRA will always baffle me with some of the dumb things they do, why can't these vehicles be set up with the round plug wired to Australian wiring from the factory if the car is ordered with the factory towbar.

Why would you wire it up when it gets here and put another plug in there:confused:

But like anything LR does, more than likely what they have done is either nothing OR they have had a 7 pin flat plug retro fitted, which is what they did to our D4.

So what needs to be done is, get your black round plug re-wired to suit Australian trailer wiring, apparently it's not that hard, and is only a matter of changing 2 or 3 wires around in the plug, or so I've been told.

If you're not planning on fitting a Electric Brake Controller then it's only a matter of isolating one wire, 1 minute job.

If you're going down the Electric Brake Controller path search the threads on AULRO as many have been down that path with mixed results depending on who they used. General concensus is have the installer run a new cable from teh controller all the way to as close to the plug as possible as teh "second" tail light curcuit cable is quite thin.

Get the dealer to set it up, that way if things go bad, it's covered by warranty.

Just a quick update. Had the D4 in for its 1st (12mth) Service today and according to the Service guys it's a programming fix on the D4's. No wiring modifications required!!

I can confirm software has made a change.
Brake lights and parking lights now work, but both blinkers flash together inline with left or right blinker, and trailer pic does not appear on dash.
So they don't have it quite right yet.
Southerns told me that they were told it was right, but so far they have had the same result with other cars that I am having.
Maybe version 16.1(a) will fix it perfectly. ;-)
