Maybe a little off topic, however, the relationship of service/ quality to age isn't a generation thing, it is experience / training associated with age and the new way of business operation. Change an entire assembly rather than fault find and change a component. While this is often the cheaper option when on hrly rates the skills for trouble shooting and system knowledge is never learnt and skill levels never achieved.

Lots of things from wheel alignments to trailer brakes and wiring etc have unique quirks that can't be addressees by the standard workshops.
Will be getting alot more info before committing to any type of elec work
    on my D4

I managed to DIY a similar job myself (power to a GPS, including relay and hook up a reversing cam to a Windows CE GPS) with the help of some guides posted on disco3.uk.co so you would expect a professional to be able to do a job like that with their eyes closed.

Hope it gets sorted quickly and painlessly for you

    consider yourself lucky.

I've got stories relayed to me from other makes drivers who had 2 ways and other fairly normal items fitted only to have them shut the car down, set of airbags, dead lock the vehicle so you cant get out, prevent the car from turning off and unlock the vehicle at random times.

ensure that you get the quote for the repairs from the dealers prior to them getting started (this is more to do with later warranty work if needed).

I'll be interested to know if the unnammed mob come to the party to pay for the repairs.

    Hi,
Back to the original post, isn't it likely that they disconnected the battery without waiting for the system to shutdown as per instructions beside the battery?
Can create all sorts of issues!

Even for places that know what they are doing, don't be afraid to print off info from the forum and show it to them before they do work I certainly have, the worst that can happen is that they look at you condescendingly and say yes of course I know that, but at least they will know you have done our research and you may well find they learn something.

I managed to get an ongoing problem with SWMBO's Peugeot diagnosed and fixed with a dealer by printing out information from a Peugeot forum and taking it to the stealer who had been trying to fix it for months.

Enthusiast forums are worth their weight in gold.

That I agree with ,too much money no loyalty from either side do as little as you have too charge like a wounded bull, then go home and enjoy the fruits of your rip off.
Now I'm not in any way knocking the good ones like MR Automotive in Redcliffe.
