Ken, it seems the forward alert switch available on the early RRS is now selected via the setup menu. To be sure, I read the RRS owners manual instructions for the ACC. Have a look here:

Graeme's comments about software versions is a consideration I had not made and is a concern when looking at the above manual. You can see some messages and images of the RRS that display on the drivers info panel in the dash. Hopefully that is not going to be an issue.

Does anyone know where the ecu is located when fitted to an RRS? It might be worth having a poke around the area just in case there's a connector although from my experience, LR almost always tailors wiring harnesses to cater only for optional equiment actually being fitted.

@Sean, you will also need to tell the CCF files that you now have ACC. This will trigger the information to be displayed on the TFT screen. Will also allow for the icon to appear.

@Grame, you are correct. I have yet to see "Major" componentry spare harness's taped to the wiring for later use.

Interesting read though, would be great fun to have ACC running on the D4, It is a brilliant feature.
The steering wheel & associated switch gear will all be plug & play as a lot is like the early D3 with phone kits. All the connections via the rotary coupling are there as there are spare blank pins in the connectors.
Have also seen this on the D4 when replacing horn buttons.

If Gordon's RRS has ACC then his ecm s/w number could be compared with a D4's (eg mine) although even if not fitted, having the same number would be encouraging. However I suspect the logic is in all 3.0 ecm s/w, only activated when iidicated in the CCF and the ACC hardware is operational.

@sneigy yes - I have been quietly ignoring that fact knowing that I'll have to get myself an MSV-2 or simillar to do the job - really a must have anyway. Good to know that the connections/wiring are all in place in the steering wheel.

@Graeme I have been wondering about Gordon's set up as well. With your questions about ECU location, I had a hunt around on the Microcat and it seems to be located somewhere behind the battery on the passenger side of the engine bay. I'll have a bit more of a look.

To clarify, I meant the ACC ecu location.

The Canbus solder joints for the RRS ACC module are between the Transfer Box control module and the Dynamic Response module (if fitted) then another solder joint pair with 1 branch going to the steering angle sensor and the other to the diagnostic socket. Hence the connector if fitted will be near the Transfer box module which is near the brake m/c & booster.

CanH is yellow with brown stripe, CanL is yellow with black stripe.

Interestingly there is a discrepancy between the 2010 RRS suspension ecu and the comms network schematics for the pins used at the suspension ecu connector for CanH & CanL (16/19 and 17/18). Both pairs of pins have previously been used in different configurations for various models since the earliest D3/RRS. The Llams looms have both pairs twisted.

Hi Graeme, Thank you for your input, but I am now more confused than ever, the steep learning curve can only be good though:eek2::eek2:

From the BBS tutorial so far I quote " This is normally mounted in a hole in the drivers side A pillar on RHD vehicles" with regards to the placement of the ACC ECU. But as with reversing cameras etc, I think your chances of winning lotto would be higher than finding the wiring in place, especially for a mod that is not even an option. Does the A pillar start at the dash and go to roof or is it from the floor up?

I already have a fault-mate to do the ccf edits so I'm not worried about that, but when it comes to flashing new software I've been left in the dark a bit when asking questions before. Are you suggesting a software update will be required?

There's electrical stuff mounted almost to the floor below the actual A pillar, mostly conectors but the suspension ecu is at the highest possible point. The Can wires going to the diagnostic port should be quite accessible.
AFAIK no-one except LR can yet reload ecm s/w via the diagnostic port.

I'm only saying that there's a possibility of different ecm code to support this feature.

P.S. No spare connectors in the vicinity that I could see.
