Thanks heaps guys. You've sold me. My intent is to run at -20mm on roads (after a wheel alignment) and +30 off road if required (Oh and to give my mate with a 4in lifted Patrol a hard time) :)

Mate, I had my wheel aligned checked at -20, after being aligned at standard. He said the difference was so negligible and told me not to worry. I cant recall the exact figures but on the display it was pretty tiny. the wheel alignment was out more before they adjusted it, then the difference. Maybe check and see what your guy says.Quote:

Rods and LLAMS are easy to fit....rods you can do with your eyes closed once you know how, and LLAMS....about two hours all up.

Great to hear all the positive feedback on the Llams/rods, my rods arrived from GOE today :) thanks Gordon! Can't wait 'til the weekend to fit them.
Did anyone else read in 4wd action (I think) the guy with the D3 who said he's shortened his stock rods for a permanent 2" lift? Can't think that's too smart......

I set it back to normal height as soon as I am back on the black top and putting air in the tires.

LLAMS All the way however I have to say I initially had some suspension faults popping up but that had to do with the installation by Davis performance and since they fixed it I had no other issues.
I really take my D3 off-road and LLAMS was the best purchase
I have never had an issue with LLAMs but when I first fitted the new toy I played a lot with it which highlighted how marginal the air system is - both in reservoir capacity and compressor power.
As a result I quickly learned that lowering to access height when getting in and out is doing the desiccant no favours, when you get offroad select the equivalent of offroad height and leave it there, only going higher if needed and going from the equivalent of access to super extended in one go is a no no and you are better off going to a mid point and leaving it there for a little while before going higher.
In my view the compressor is probably strong enough to last forever, however when the desiccant starts to clog up it makes the compressor work hard, over heat and fail. I am thinking about adding a service item every third service to either rejuvenate or replace the desiccant.

what is the largest tyre size with having both LLAMS & GOE rods?
reading through this thread it looks like some people do their highway driving at a setting lower than standard, (-20 etc) wont those large tyres rub?

I had same issue with perhaps 'fiddling too much' (!) with LLAMS when in the Flinders and also experienced the access height drop / faults etc but after a 10 minute cooling period it was fine again; so I too tend to leave the height at off road and only go to extended if really necessary.
