Good Year MT/R with Kevlar ...has anyone tried them?

Yes I do Liam, however after seeing recently how wrecked Barry's KM2's are I must admit I'm not in a hurry to rush out and buy them.

If anything I'd be more inclined to look at the new Maxxis MT 764's as they get really good reports

Plus I'm sponsored by Dunlop so I can get Good Years at a reasonable price which always helps. The other thing is the MT/R's were supposedly designed to be more of a rock tyre where as the KM2's are a mud tyre and most of the off roading I do includes lots of rocks and I avoid mud where ever possible.

That's the theory anyway.

I have them, but in a 265/75 r16 on a D2A not a D3/4.

I have done 25k km on a set that were fitted in July 2011.

I am fairly happy with them. (I have BFG KM's and KM2's on other cars so can relate them together)

I would say they are a bit nosier than the BFG's
Off road the grip is much of a muchness I think with the BFG's on both rock and mud.
On road grip is good especially in the dry.
I am seeing pretty even treadwear and no scalloping at 25k km
The ride however IME is terrible.

I see heaps of people posting about running 36-40psi in their D2's but anything over 30 gives an unbearable sharp jarring ride on any road imperfection, especially joins in the motorway sections, or the little step onto our drive.

I run them at about 30 and its ok. I am sure they are wearing out faster than they would at 36psi, but tbh I dislike the ride at that pressure so much I am happy to take the shorter life.

I also badly damaged the sidewall on one, the very first time I used them offroad, which was about a week after they were fitted.

Overall I think next time I will go back to KM2's

what about the new coopers st maxx, save you having to change over and they are getting good reviews, not sure if they do you desired size.

After seeing great hunks torn out of the STT's on there first serious off road outing I'm now a bit gun shy about Coopers and so far I have not heard any reports yet on the new ones being better or worse than the older ones.

In reality the Coopers did exactly what many people, including Barry, said they would do so I shouldn't be surprised.

I had a good run with the KM2s on the old D2, around 50,000ks from memory and still had good grip even when nearly worn out, BUT, these new ones don't seem to be as good, after our trip down to Vic in November, on tracks like Blue Rag, Sth Basalt, Billy Goat Bluff and Zeka Spur, they were chipped to buggary, to say I'm a bit disappointed is an understatement, and only a couple of thousand Ks old too:censored:
