"From what I have heard" - so do you have any experience with this personally?
Have you made a claim that was refused?
Or are you just passing on hearsay?

The LR one is underwritten by Allianz and is expensive as you say.
You can get an "unbranded" one direct from Allianz for about $2400.
There is no material difference between the two.
I took the Allianz one when I bought my D3 last year.
It has already more than paid for itself.
I had the allianz one on my D3 for 2 years (2009-2011) for $2300. 2 small claims and no dramas.
This thread may be of some interest.

If you're reading through this thread (as I am) with a thought to comparing quotes, just be aware that there's quite a difference in costs to warrant a D3 vs a D4 vs an RRS. Also note that insurance prices across the board have jumped a bit in the last few months.
Best I can find at this date for a 2010 RRS is $3924 for a two-year policy.

I got the 3yr Allianz product in 2010. Paid around $2900. It has been very fair and paid out on the tail gate lock and lower front control arms (about 85%). About $1500 in total paid out.
On top I have now done gearbox service and changed diff oils.
It has been good peace of mind but knowing what I know now from this site money could go to preventative maintenance on key items.
10 months left to run and it will be interesting to see if any more claims. The compressor is a worry I would not like to deal with outside warranty.
I asked my Mechanic (Ayre Automotive in Brookvale) to do a a full check on the D4 before it came out of warranty when I dropped off the car the manager asked why I wasn't getting the extended warranty. He said the Land Rover one was excellent and that he strongly recommended it. He agreed that in 90% of cases the extended warranty isnt worth the paper they are written on but that this one was different. He said they have made a few big claims and never had a problem. For small things you can just take to the dealer and they will fix it without needing to claim. He wasn't selling it either so no vested interest.
We had one of the door handles intermittentently failing to unlock on the first go. Took it into Land Rover at Artarmon. They asked if it was still under warrenty I said the extended warrenty and they changed the door handle on the spot. No paper work no claim forms. Easy.
According to the LR Assured Extended Warrant Insurance Policy Document, Allianz Australia Insurance Ltd.

This warranty will cease to operate and no claims will be accepted where the vehicle:
Clause 1. Has been modified from the manufacturer's original specifications, unless endorsed by us.
Question -
I'm considering taking out this insurance but have an ARB Bull Bar, Long Range Fuel Tank and Spare Wheel Swing Arm
Does anybody have any experience or comment regarding successful claims made with similar after market products fitted to their vehicles
Thanks
Agro,
why not just call them and ask the question then ask for the answer to be put in writing if they say its ok with your mods?
Seriously no point asking here because if someone says its ok and later you find the answer was wrong then your the one stuck with no insurance and no recourse.
cheers,
Terry
