I understand. I can get a 2013-build in four weeks, but I have to take the tech pack, seven seats, etc. or wait for late April/early May for the next shipment (to get what I really want). With a current dead D2, I have to take what's available. Or wait...................
Personally between the two, I'd go with the SE due to the better engine. You'd enjoy it more, and would not hurt resale either.
When we were ordering ours, one of the options we definitely wanted was the reversing camera. Most of the salesmen tried to steer us towards the tech pack, which includes the reversing camera, high line audio, satnav and front parking sensors. We had absolutely no desire to get the satnav, and while the front parking sensors would have been nice they weren't essential.
So in the end we ordered out car just with the reversing camera and high line audio (you must have the high line audio if you get the reversing camera). I think this saved us nearly $1500.
Unless you're desperate, I would be ordering what you want even if it's a longer wait.
I didn't want the nav either but wanted adaptive lights so went for the vision pack.
Ordered and put a deposit on a 2013-build Santorini Black/Ebony SE with audio pack, rear camera, xenon and LED, and privacy glass.
Not sure on the ebony and privacy glass. I have until the end of the week to change to almond and no privacy.
Looking forward to a big step up from my 2002 TD5 D2.:cool:
It's all about broadening your resale options, and optioning 7 seats is hardly a compromise. They sit flush in the back, so all your loosing is a storage space that you probably wouldn't use if you had the rubber cargo mat.Quote:

You never get the cost of options back when it comes to resale, base models depreciate less than the optioned ones. As far as subsequent purchasers go, options just make one second hand vehicle a better proposition than another, but they aren't prepared to pay for them. Sure, you might get a couple of hundred extra, but not half what they originally cost.
So, options are for you! Buy the ones you want, and enjoy having them.
If you got the optioned up audio you would not be disappointed, we have the Logic7 up grade in our D3 and it is so good that I would struggle to buy another Disco without the top of the line stereo.
