    Missing Fuse FL6?

    G'day all,

When I tow a trailer I don't get the trailer sign illuminated, so making the assumption that the tow assist will not be activated.

On checking out the engine fuse box I spotted that fuse FL6 was identified by a sign of a trailer. However I do not have a fuse fitted, not only that only one pin is visible on the slot.

    Should I have one?

    What is it used for?

It is an early D4 SE 2.7D

    Thanks

    Andrew

    FL6 in the 2010 RRS is used for the last 2 TDV8 glow plugs, with FL1, FL4 and FL5 for the other 6. I suspect the D4 2.7 might use FL1, FL4 and FL5 for its 6 glow-plugs.

The trailer symbol not illuminating is usually due to the globes not drawing sufficient current, often just differences between brands. My box trailer doesn't show but the van does, even though both have globes marked as 21W. Disabled reversing sensors is more indicative that the trailer is known to be attached.

AFAIK trailer stability assist is based on the vehicle's behaviour when it becomes characteristic of a being swayed by a trailer, not because a trailer is attached.

Thanks for that. Explains why there is an extra fuse place for the glow-plugs, looking an the icon it might suggest trailer with electric brakes.

Suppose I should not complain as I can still adjust the suspension height with the trailer attached

It is only the automatic height changes for certain Terrain Resonse settings (eg to off-road height) and high speed 160 kph+ lowering that are disabled with a trailer attached.
