One suggestion - look into getting your rear wheel arches covered with clear 3M paint protection film. No matter which mudflap you fit, the painted rear wheel arches will get hammered by rocks. It didn't matter that much on earlier D3s, as they had unpainted wheel arches.

the-amors: did these Hk made mudflats fit both front and back of your D4? The picture on the link only shows them fitted to the front. And was it a set of 2or set of 4 or a single mudflap that are in the kit for the stated price?

I had the LR OEM mudflaps fitted from new but as they are "hard" plastic they snap/tear rather than bend (much). They are also too small and need to be about 4 cm wider to stop stones and mud getting sprayed on doors and rear quarter panels. I did my left rear one in on rocks and the others are starting to look a bit sad as well.

I like the DIY 5mm rubber version fitted down to access height and then they could be wider and longer. I was wondering if this rubber version could be fitted inside the hard plastic ones from HK? I would use them as sacrificial and then just cut some new rubber when they get destroyed. Would this work?

I agree that it would be a good idea to clear vinyl the rear painted wheel arches - wished I had done so when I first got it....!

    Smile

Great, Thanx for that. Photos look very similar to the LR OEM versions I have fitted (but have damaged). I still think these mudflaps are too small and might have a try at inserting a flexible rubber flap that is wider and taller inside these hard plastic ones so I can have them just touch the ground in Access height. I will post some pictures if I have any success! That should give the body work some extra protection (plus that magic peel off paint protection stuff mentioned earlier on this thread). Cheers!
