    Aftermarket Mud guards D4

Thinking of fitting aftermarket MUDGUARDS to my D4 (front and/or back ) to reduce the stone trowup on next trip up the oodnadatta track ......last time the stones on my lower back panels were like a sandblaster ( good job they are made largely of plastic )

so any thoughts reccomendations on whats available (lower cost/better quality the better ) will be truely appreciated .......................

    best regards

    Hello,
I bought these on ebay. Was very quick in arriving, came with all screws. My opinion they are of very good quality. I think from memory the standard Rover ones are about $270. Hope the following link works:

I also got some of these mud guards much cheaper than the genuine and they fit great they still have the little Landrover logo well worth it.

    Hi Landoman,
When I sold my D4 earlier this year, the mudflap templates went with it. 'Datt' from this forum now has it and may be able to arrange to forward a template. I suggest sending him a PM.

I kept the original LR rear mudflaps. Only replaced the fronts.

    Cheers, Craig

I did a 4k outback NSW trip back in October. Before we left I went to a local foam & rubber supplier and bought a strip of 600mm wide rubber that was about 5mm thick. I cut it into 4 pieces that when attached to the car were long enough to just touch the ground when my D3 was at access height. There was a bit of cutting/shaping require to get them to the required 'shape' but not too much drama. Not only did they keep the rocks off the car, but they also reduced the damage to my camper trailer. Others on the trip (without decent mud flaps) suffered a LOT more damage than we did. A good/cheap investment and bigger/sturdier than any ready-made mud flaps I could buy off the shelf.
