    3.6TDV8

Hi just a general question. Has anyone heard of there being major problems with the 3.6TDV8 once it has a few miles on it? Reason I ask is that on RRS Uk forum there seems to be a few now reporting fairly significant engine failures. Fingers crossed these are isolated cases....

Are these 'vanilla' engines or are they ones which have been re-mapped?

I'm not aware of anything major, especially as I've recently been watching cars with over 200,000km on the clock, going through the auctions.

As always though, stuff reported on the tinterweb needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as people are quick to criticise but rarely start threads with; "I've done 200,000km and not had a single problem..."

Understand and agree. Seems though that what is worry is not only the failure, but lack of availability of replacement cores etc. The question was being asked, why were none available? The thread I was watching the guy had two turbos fail (under warranty) then later engine siezed. So was interested if this was isolated incident, or if this was a more regular thing.

Yeah, I've seen that thread too and that the blown engine is probably due to poor workmanship of the repair shop, rather than a problem with the TDV8.
