Wot he said ....
It's all in the fitting/usage instructions that come with the rods.
By the way, the new 2015 designed rods are now out. No more lube spray or rubber grommets and having to prise them off the location lug
Cheers.

Whether you have Llams or Gordon's rods if you are at off road height plus Llams or Rods off road height then if it goes into emergency height then it only lifts about another 10 mm or so, as that is all the bags will extend.
You have to be careful with this as you can on occasion not realise it has gone into emergency height, just keep an eye on the ride height lever and if the light starts to flash then once out of trouble then just lower it and it will go back to off road height plus the Llams / rods extended height.
Cheers,
Terry

Hey Gordon, any spots left I the next GOE trip?
Yeah, to be honest, I was also a little disappointed to find out that there was a new design for $10 more already in the works when I had ordered mine. Same as 4evershiva - mine are still in the box uninstalled as well. As they were manufactured to order, and it wasn't a "stock clearance" thing, it would have been nice to have been given the option to wait a little longer for the new design. Oh well, C'est la vie.
Is there a big difference, are the previous ones steel?

I am no expert but the previous ones are either plastic or some type of polymer like delrin.
The main difference I think people would appreciate the most is not needing to slide one end of the rod off completely before reinserting onto the other hole, as can be a bit fiddly when reaching behind the wheel and going by feel. The new rods look like you can just slide directly from one hole to another.
For someone like me who doesn't use them many times (and hence not as familiar with the process) then it is helpful to have this guidance.
Probably not an issue for D3/4, but the standard height of RRV is a bit high. I find myself sliding off the seat to the ground. I wish these rods had a 4th position so I can drive around on the black top about 25mm lower than standard height.
I should just make some side steps.
