    Smart key low battery

Has anyone had this? I'm getting a warning for both my key fobs.
I'm thinking there may be some other issues as this coincidentally occurred when I had a flat battery in the car while camping last week. Also find it hard to believe both are flat at the same time when one has been used far more than the other.
Other thing that occurred post the flat battery is the one touch windows up on front doors only no longer works.
Thinking of trying a hard reset.
    Any other ideas?
Can the windows be programmed by me or do I need the dealer to do it if HR fails?
How about key fob batteries can I replace them?
    Appreciate any ideas.

Marty the resetting of the windows is easy, wind the window all the way up, release then hold up the switch for another couple of seconds, (you may hear a faint click). Do the same for each window.

The key fob batteries are easy too, have a look in your manual it shows you how, I just bought mine from the local supermarket.

In relation to the smart key (not the window reset) issue, you'll find the experience you need and a very helpful YouTube video on how to replace the battery in this existing thread. Can be found with a forum search.

    Key fob low battery

    Hey Marty

I have had the same problem with the key fobs, replaced both batteries but that didn't fix it, also have intermittent "smart key not found" warning.

Alto in Artarmon said I needed to order new keys under warranty, I have to chase it up with MLR next time I'm in Melbourne.

    Hi,
assuming vehicle is a D4 then check your handbook and it will show you how to replace the smart key batteries.
They are a standard CR type, forget which one?

I also have your problem. LR NEWCASTLE have looked at the issue and applied a software update, well that's what they said! I'm still having the problem after a week. Going back there Monday again!!!

I had the same issue with both my D4 key fobs, warnings for both in a short period.

I thought it to coincidental too (as one fob sat in a drawer for 18mths), however after replacing both CR2032 batteries (correct polarity!) all’s fine.

If you are getting 'smart key not found' I bet it will be a problem with the vehicle.Mine has been in twice with this issue, hopefully it has at last been resolved,i think with a software issue.
Suppose will have to wait and see....

definitely not a good message to see when in a remote area

"Smart key not found" message is fixed by replacing key fobs, I think there is a TSB regarding this. Fixed mine.
    Cheers,

Mine were not replaced, they only had the one that we use all the time,so maybe there are different Smart Key issues.

Just a normal key(like the D2 had) would suit me fine, still can't see what the advantage of the smart key is.
