Less than a week till delivery... Can't wait

Just got told my tdv6 will arrive at dealership on Monday a month before schedule.

Lots to organise, tinting, new grill & vents, matts and cargo rubbers, extended roof rails and racks.... Not long before I have to make the call on tyres... To replace or not to replace???

Good one - nice to hear good news here!

Tyres selected really depends on how you'll be using the beast. The ultimate solution (for me) is a set of road tyres on factory alloys and a set of play wheels with muddies. For others, it is a set of ATs all the time.

    Good luck with your choice!

I'm leaning towards that idea too, but dealership have said if I swap a set of 4 tyres I will need to take it to the dealership each time I change them due to a sensor to do with the airbag system needing to be reset. Has anyone running two sets of tyres had this issue?

Sounds like a load of rubbish to me.

Since 2006, I've had 2 sets of wheels on my D3 and now D4 and never had any issues. FWIW, I've done about 20,000km with my 17" muddies on my D4 (out of 58,000km total), and probably another 20,000km on my D3 (out of 138,000km). I also an 18" play set on my D3 which did about 80,000km on AT tyres. Never had an issue with alignment or suspension errors.

Another porkie they will try on you is when you enquire about putting a bullbar or other mods on... the response will be "We don't recommend this, as it spoils the dynamics". Yeah, right.

I don't entirely disagree with this, I put a LR tank RWC and bullbar on my d3 and it is a significantly changed vehicle dynamically. It's still not bad and you do get used to it, but it definitely is not as good dynamically as it was before. That's not to say I regret it, the trade off was worth it for the purpose I did it for but I definitely wouldn't do it just for the look of it.

Very true Andrew, mine is also nowhere as good onroad but offroad I wouldn't change a thing!

    Cheers

    I swap regularly.....no issues at all. 255/55-19 to 285/60-18.

I just had a bullbar and winch (with steel rope) fitted, and there is negligible difference to dynamics. I suspect all that lard you added to the rear made the difference.

I've driven from Sydney down to Lakes Entrance and then Melbourne and return, as well as Sydney to Port Stephens return since it was fitted, and not much difference to acceleration or economy - with LR 18" alloys and road tyres on.

I'm about to get some dyneema rope and lose some lard off the front.

I just need to paint the two outside front PDC sensors - which are painted white to match the plastic bumper bar.
